The Guild Inn Estate 201 Guildwood Parkway Scarborough, Ontario, M1E 1P5
The American Women's Club of Toronto enjoyed our first large in-person event with our Spring 2022 Luncheon.
The historic Guild Inn Estate, situated in one of Toronto's loveliest gardens that contains a "sculptural sanctuary" of the city's early Art Deco architecture, provided a lovely venue.
We celebrated our members and our scholarship winners!
We installed our 2022-2023 Board of Directors.
We enjoyed a special presentation by Katie Daubs.
The luncheon was seated service, including salad, entree and sides, dessert, coffee and tea. Spouses, family members and friends were welcomed to join us!
Speaker: Katie Daubs
Our event speaker was Toronto Star reporter and author Katie Daubs, who presented her book The Missing Millionaire, a Globe and Mail "Best Book."
Daubs' story examines the mysterious 1919 disappearance of Ambrose Small, Toronto theater owner and millionaire. Weaving together a gripping narrative with the social and cultural history of a city undergoing immense change, Daubs examines the characters who were connected to the case as the century carried on. A series of trials exposed Small’s tumultuous business and personal relationships, while allegations and confessions swirled.
