Eventually, spring will grace us with blooms, birds and sunshine and the chance to get outside and start planning our gardens. Our guest speaker for March 7, 2022, will be Dugald Cameron, gardener extraordinaire.
Dugald’s gardening career began at an early age in his English grandmother’s garden where he’d occasionally help-out with weeding and digging. He must have “caught the bug” then because he’s been interested in plants and gardens ever since. He started his company Gardenimport because he couldn’t find the quality or selection of bulbs and plants he wanted for our gardens. He has brought that pedigree of plant to us, whether it be a specimen, bulb, perennial or seed. For him, it is all about quality. His choices all have a little something special, whether it is a new variety, extra-long blooming habits, double blooms, colourful creepers, or foliage that changes colour from summer to fall. Dugald was on the Board of Directors at the Toronto Botanical Garden for 13 years and continues to volunteer there for numerous events. He speaks on many subjects to Horticultural Societies in Southern Ontario and has sat in for Ed Lawrence on CBC’s Ontario Today. He was the first president of the Greater Toronto Bulb Society and is a member of numerous horticultural societies. His diverse gardening interests include spring and summer flowering bulbs, shrubs, perennials and clematis. Please put aside the winter doldrums and join us for this program to renew your spirits. |
